Description of Work

MARCOR's work addressed 30 linear feet of ducts in each of 29 separate units -12 units in NC 1, 2, and 3 and 17 units in NC 0. MARCOR also encapsulated the intake portion of the air-handling units (AHUs) and re-insulated the fan portions in NC 0 with a closed-cell moisture-resistant insulation.

Mechanical and hand cleaning of each AHU included the following tasks:

  • Removal of all filters and cleaning of filter racks
  • Steam cleaning of coils
  • Scrubbing all drainage leading from unit and inspecting all drain tubes
  • Scrubbing and cleaning all interior walls affected by pollutants with neutralizing agents
  • Cleaning of drain trays/pans
  • Cleaning of fan unit

Duct cleaning (84" x 22" x 30 ft.) included the following:

  • Inspection of all duct work
  • Installation of CamLock doors
  • Surface cleaning (mechanical means)
  • HEPA-cleaning of duct sections that had insulation
  • Encapsulation of insulation

A third-party independent air-monitoring firm that provided necessary services and conducted air sampling/analysis before, during, and after the duct-cleaning procedures.

All work was performed in confined spaces, requiring experienced technicians trained and certified in confined space entry.
