Background

MARCOR responded to emergency mold-related issues at 30 schools throughout the Escambia County School District. The rampant mold growth had ultimately resulted from Hurricane Ivan, which was one of four hurricanes to hit Florida within six weeks. In addition to general cleanup as a result of the hurricane damage, the work included carpet removal, ceiling and floor tile removal, dry wall and insulation removal, basic vegetation clearing, dry-out activities, and mold remediation.

Some representative examples of typical tasks performed under this contract include, but are by no means limited to, the following:

  • Perform general cleaning and mopping in computer room.
  • Remove paint chips from ceiling; Clean ceiling and lights and vacuum in necessary area.
  • Wipe down all books, tables, cabinets, and walls; Clean vents and vacuum in media center.
  • Relocate furniture to hallway; Wash countertops and wall; Discard items with mold infestation.
  • Clean walls, floor, and ceiling lights; Vacuum and wash floor in room 10 and bathroom.
  • Remove all food in freezers and refrigerators; Package and dispose of all spoiled foods.
  • Clean and wipe down all surfaces.
  • Clean lights; Put back ceiling tiles and wash floor in hallways.
  • Cut down, saw into manageable pieces, and dispose of one tree.
  • Return all furniture moved in carpet removal to original location.
  • Cleanup and remove shingles and debris over six-acre area (at one school site).
  • Load five dump trucks for debris transport to landfill.

Upon completion of the work, MARCOR provided a highly detailed Completed Project Documentation Package (CPDP). The CPDP consisted of before and after photos; purchase orders, receipts, and billing information; daily job reports; equipment tracking reports; school layout schematics showing areas remediated, and many other details. All work was completed in a timely manner and to the full satisfaction of the customer.

Note: The General Services Administration (GSA) approved MARCOR’s rates for the work under contract number GS10F-0553N.
